The new Euromax Terminal at the Yangtzehaven, lies at the northern-most tip of Maasvlakte 1, immediately adjacent to the Maasvlakte Oil Terminal. The Euromax Terminal was taken into use in the course of 2008. Similar to the Delta terminal, which is some 45 km from the old port in Rotterdam city center, the new Euromax is some 50 km away from the old port. As the container transport tariffs are based on the city center, the Euromax surcharge was introduced to cover the extra transport distance.
